RUNNING TO A CAREER SHE LOVES…
When Leslie Smith was in her 20s, a hormone disorder led to a lot of cosmetic issues, including the growth of unsightly dark facial hair she was desperate to get rid of. Then she saw a doctor on television that was one of four doctors in the U.S. to use lasers in an FDA trial. And he was local.
“That next day I showed up at his office to give my best attempt to be part of the FDA study,” Smith said. Dr. Peter Cooperrider was not only able to help her, but it changed the course of her life. “From that point on, I knew this is what I wanted to do as it employs artistic abilities, science, and serving the community,” she said. “Thus I went about pursuing my goal to work for the great doctor who gave me my face back. Who knew that growing facial hair would probably be the best thing to happen to me?” She’s now been with the company for 21 years.
“I find my days to be full of incredible diversity; from the patients we serve, to the exciting fleet of laser technologies, injectables and science-based home skin care lines that I have at my fingertips,” she said.
Smith was raised in Issaquah — and on the slopes because her parents ran a ski school. She loves visiting her parents at the family home with views of the valley and Tiger Mountain. During summer the sky is dotted with paragliders — she’s even flown a few times. She also loves to run. The three-time AAA state champion in cross country forged some of her strongest friendships with the girls on her team. But one of her favorite talents — is her super awesome ability to parallel park!
